COLOR GEMS BAZAAR

GEMSTONE PRICING GUIDE

Understand what influences gemstone value, from color and clarity to size, rarity, origin, and overall quality, so you can make confident and informed choices.

Our Approach

How We Sell Our Rough Gemstones

We keep things simple and transparent. Every product in our store is sold as a 100‑carat packet of rough gemstones. You pay one clear price for a full packet — no confusing calculations, no hidden adjustments. What you see is exactly what you get.

For smaller projects or specific needs, we also offer individual stones — see the section below for details.

What Is a 100‑Carat Packet?

A 100‑carat packet contains approximately 100 carats total weight of the rough gemstone type you select. This may be a single stone, a few medium pieces, or several smaller crystals — depending on the natural size of that gem variety. The total carat weight across the packet will always be close to 100 carats.

Our 100-carat gemstone packets are categorized into specific carat ranges to provide greater consistency and help customers choose the size that best suits their needs. Because gemstones vary in size and weight, the number of stones included in a 100-carat packet will differ depending on the selected carat range. As the individual gemstone size increases, the number of gemstones per packet decreases. Because gemstones are naturally variable, the actual number of stones you receive may differ slightly while the total weight remains 100 carats.

Why We Sell by the Packet

  • Ready‑to‑cut quantities Lapidaries and jewelry makers need enough material to work with. A 100‑carat packet gives you a meaningful amount to cut, design, and create.
  • Fair, fixed pricing No per‑carat math at checkout. The price you see is the price you pay.
  • Great value Buying by the packet is more economical than purchasing single small stones, especially for production work or stocking your studio.

Individual Stones – For Smaller, Specific Projects

Not every project needs 100 carats — and we understand that. Whether you're:

  • Setting a single bespoke pendant
  • Looking for a display-quality crystal specimen
  • Testing a new material before committing to a bulk order
  • Replacing a lost or damaged stone in an existing piece

We offer carefully selected individual rough stones and single faceted gems for purchase.

How Individual Stone Pricing Works

  • Each stone is priced individually based on its exact carat weight, size, color, clarity, and overall quality.
  • You pay only for that specific stone — no minimum quantity, no packet requirement.
  • Every single stone is photographed separately (daylight, backlit, and scale shots), so you see exactly what you're buying.
  • Availability is limited — individual stones are one‑of‑a‑kind. Once sold, they're gone.

When to Choose Packets vs. Individual Stones

Pro Tip: If you're unsure, start with an individual stone to test quality, color, and cuttability. Once you're satisfied, come back for a full packet.

What Affects the Price of a Packet?

Different gemstone types have different packet prices. Several factors influence this:

FactorHow It Affects Price
RarityHard‑to‑find stones naturally cost more per packet.
Color qualityVibrant, desirable colors command higher prices.
ClarityCleaner rough with fewer internal fractures is more valuable.
DemandPopular cutting and jewelry stones sit at higher price points.
Piece sizePackets with larger individual crystals may be priced higher than those with smaller fragments.

We set our packet prices honestly based on these factors — never artificially inflated, never misleading.
