Treatment: Natural/untreated

Orange garnet, most notably represented by the vibrant Spessartine variety, is a striking gemstone celebrated for its fiery, sunset-like hues that range from bright yellow-orange to deep reddish-orange. Among these, the prized Mandarin garnet is particularly famous for its electric, pure-orange brilliance. Ranking between 7 and 7.5 on the Mohs scale, it offers great durability for everyday wear while boasting a high refractive index that gives it an intense, eye-catching sparkle. Beyond its physical beauty, orange garnet is widely cherished as a stone of creativity, passion, and vitality, believed to stimulate the imagination and boost personal confidence.

Rough orange garnet is relatively durable, but its natural crystal surfaces and internal features can still be damaged by impact or improper cleaning. It can be safely cleaned with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft brush to remove dirt from its crevices, while harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and steam should be avoided because they may cause cracking or damage inclusions. When handling or displaying the specimen, protect it from drops and strong impacts, and store it separately in a soft pouch or padded compartment to prevent scratches from harder minerals. Orange garnet is generally stable under normal light and everyday conditions, but exposure to strong acids should be avoided.

Faceting & Design Recommendations:

Rough orange garnet should be carefully examined for orange-to-reddish-orange color, transparency, zoning, inclusions, fractures, and internal strain before cutting, then oriented to maximize saturated face-up color, brilliance, yield, and weight retention; because garnet is generally singly refractive, orientation is flexible. Brilliant, mixed, cushion, oval, round, pear, and radiant cuts work well, while custom cuts suit heavily included or irregular rough. With a hardness of about 6.5–7.5 and no distinct cleavage, garnet is suitable for faceting but may chip along conchoidal fractures, so use fine, well-worn laps, light controlled pressure, and adequate cooling. Avoid thin girdles, sharp corners, aggressive cutting, sudden temperature changes, excessive heat, and direct flame, with cold-dopping or gradual warming preferred.

Orders are carefully packed and dispatched within 1–3 business days. No treatments, no shortcuts, no filler. What you see in our listings is exactly what arrives at your door genuine natural material selected for its response, transparency, and cutting potential, packed and weighed with the same care a maker would expect.

It's a standard built for independent creators and collectors who value provenance as much as beauty the foundation of everything we sell.

Every parcel feels handpicked. The color response under UV was stunning, and knowing the material is genuinely untreated makes all the difference to my work.
